Dana D. Kinion
Dana Deen Kinion is an instructor and member of the accounting, economics and finance faculty in the College of Business and Management at the University of Illinois Springfield, teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels in the areas of federal income, corporate and partnership taxation, business law and business ethics. Ms. Kinion is also an attorney with over 25 years of experience of both private and government practice. Her experience includes federal, state and local tax issues, including non-qualified deferred compensation tax planning and administration issues, and non-profit organization tax exemption issues. She was income tax and sales tax counsel at the Illinois Department of Revenue. Ms. Kinion holds law licenses in Illinois and Oklahoma.
Prior to her tenure on the PTAB, Ms. Kinion served as chair of the Sangamon County Board of Review from 2008 to 2010 and 2015 to 2016, hearing property valuation appeals in Sangamon County. She served as the Sangamon County board’s first female member and chair.
Ms. Kinion authored chapters for two legal treatises published by the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education. They consist of the chapters for levy, extension and collection of property taxes in Real Estate Taxation and Illinois Department of Revenue procedures in Illinois State and Local Taxation.
Ms. Kinion received her Juris Doctor from University of Tulsa College of Law in 1996, a Master of Laws in Taxation from Southern Methodist University in 1997, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Texas A&M University in 1993.
Ms. Kinion resides in Springfield.
